This is my Clark*Kent F-16 mountain bike. It is all in silver and black. It is a titanium tube frame bent to provide extra clearance and a unique look. As far as I know, no one except Clark*Kent bends the titanium tubes nor do they continue to do so because I believe they do not exist anymore. It was made in Colorado. I actually won this frame at a Mountain Trails Bicycle Club meeting in Brentwood, Tenn. in 1995. The frame retailed for $1,750.00 so I did not want to put some cheap parts on it. I knew Shimano XTR would be the minimum configuration, so I started from there. The XTR parts I used are: crank set, cog set (12-32), front and rear derailers, cables and chain. The only other Shimano part is the SPD-747 pedals not shown here. The bottom bracket is the Ultimate dual bearing. The threadless head set is the Chris King Team set. The rear hub is the Ringle' Super 8 and the front hub is the Hi-E. Other Ringle' parts consist of a Moby seat post and Zooka stem. Some titanium parts are the rails on the Serfas kevlar saddle, handle bar, the Curve cantilevers, black Curve skewers, Dia-Compe SS-7 brake levers, and all bolts and fasteners. The front shock is the Manitou 4 and the steering crown is the SLT 1 1/8 in. The shifter is the Grip Shift X-Ray SRT 800. The brake pads are from Ritchey. The bar ends are aluminum Control Tech Team Issue. The rims are Mavic 231s with Ritchey spokes and black alloy nipples. The tires are Ritchey Z-Max Kevlar. I do not think I missed anything. All this adds up to one expensive, light-weight titanium screamer. |
